Hijra (Emigration) to Medina

Waqia (Event):

The Hijra marks the migration of Prophet Muhammad and his companions from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. This event is of immense significance in Islamic history as it marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Quranic Reference:

In Surah Al-Anfal, Chapter 8, Verse 30, Allah says:

وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ ۚ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

Translation: "And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners."

Hadith:

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet Muhammad said, "O Allah, bestow Your blessings on our Madinah; O Allah, bless our Sa' and our Mudd (measures of food) and make them superior, and bless our Mudd and our Dirham (money)." (Bukhari)

This event signifies a turning point in the history of Islam, marking a new phase of the Islamic community in Medina, where Muslims were able to practice their faith more freely and establish the first Islamic state.
